A sophisticated passive collection system

   The collector called Øssed, on the contrary to common perception, collects the fruits or autumn leaves as a safety net before they fall on the ground. Instead of human effort or tree shaking machine it utilizes natural forces such as gravity, wind, rain, and temperature variations to efficiently gather ripe fruits and foliage continuously in every weather. This collector not only prevents damage to falling fruit but also provides protection against molds, insects, dirt and other potential contaminants.

   While developing Øssed the goal was to keep its usability as simple as possible without the need of using any tool. The installation is intuitive and the adjustments are achieved by hooks, drawstrings, bungee cords, hook & loop and rope tighteners. Focusing on sustainability the usage of plastic materials is minimized for those cases, where organic materials can not be used as an alternative. The ring is made of stainless-steel plate using laser cut and common machinery methods to achieve precision, however the wooden parts are hand-crafted from local hardwood.​​​

 

​​​​   Øssed is a tool that can help to make the garden work easier and faster. Not only this, but the device can also be used to keep green balconies clean - a great boon to city dwellers.

   In 2021, the Øssed Collector was selected for the exhibition of Slovak National Prize for Design 2021 - Product design in category of Home and public space.​​

   In 2022 the collector was awarded Bronze A'Design Award in Agricultural Tools, Equipment and Machinery Design Category at one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world.
